Description

Participatory processes in the public sector force us to redefine what the democratic debate means today. Active citizens not only contribute to re-think approaches to government, but also co-produce new ways of conceiving government itself, by introducing, for example, new services where citizens, administrators and other players collaborate in building a more open, resilient and democratic society. This day will be dedicated to understanding this phenomenon, by exploring how the design for social innovation can contribute concretely to regenerate the democratic systems of our cities and territories.

For whom

For those who wish to experience co-creation and co-production processes of ecosystemic urban regeneration. For those involved in the design for social innovation, or design of products and services – public sector, third sector, private companies, consultants, planners, early career profiles looking to deepen their knowledge of design for social innovation.

Aims and methods

The aim of the day is to offer knowledge on how the design for social innovation can make a concrete contribution towards a more participatory and more democratic society. This day allows to acquiring skills in using the methodologies of design for social innovation, through the co-creative and co-generative dimension of our cities and territories, engaging citizens, administrators and other key local players in a participatory process targeting urban and environmental regeneration.
